Swimming holes and haunted hikes – are you ready for it??
Author Sarah Lamagna sits down with me to talk about her two books, Swimming Holes: New England and Hiking With Kids: New England, on Episode 8 of Her Side of the Trail.

Sarah is an ecologist turned author who loves to spend time outdoors, whether it’s with her son or her friends. On this episode, you’ll learn the fun and not-so-fun parts of writing trail guides. Sarah has hiked multiple trails in one day, taken detailed notes, and made sure to get fabulous photos for each guide. It’s not an easy job, but somebody has to do it!
Sarah also talks about her newest book, Haunted Hikes: New England, which will be available for purchase in May 2026. She shares a spooky story (no lie, I got chills!) about one of the trails.

In addition to all of this, Sarah has partnered with fellow outdoor women to create Trailblazeher, a YouTube channel dedicated to sharing tips and information for women outdoors. Some topics aren’t pretty, but they are necessary to talk about!
You can follow along with Sarah and all of her pursuits on her website and Instagram.
